One of the best options in the Canon line if your upmost concern is portability is the Selphy CP760. IT weighs in at 2.2 pounds making it small enough to put into most laptop cases. It has a battery pack and long battery life. Its ability to print is not the best out of the bunch hut it prints text clearly and cleanly and can handle printing color photos. For Someone looking to print sales reports or make simple copies or print web pages it is a fabulous option. It is also less expensive than some of the other models with more features.

A more sophisticated model is the iP100. It is almost twice the weight of the Selphy but it has the ability to print near desktop quality reports. It is small enough to fit into a carry on bag and has a optional rechargeable battery pack. It is on the more expensive side, costing around $300 plus maybe a bit more for add ons. It is the rockstar of portable laptop printers and impresses many seasoned veterans.

Depending on your wants and needs I usually find that a Canon is the best choice. Their range of products offers something for everyone and they have a great track record at producing products that meet the needs of consumers.

HP has been also been producing quality products for years and in the last couple of years has stepped it up and made huge gains in their quality. They certainly are attempting to give Canon and other competitors a run for their money.

So, for the people that want something besides a Canon an HP is a great option. Their H470 line of laptop printers offers a wide range of different features and a wide range of different prices.

The only draw back to this line is that if you are truly in the line for something highly portable these may not be for you. With a weight of almost 9 pounds these printers may need their own carry case and can get heavy and be difficult to carry. If portability is not your main concern and you are more worried about the quality of prints then this model may be for you.

Jammed full of features and with the ability to do nearly anything a desktop printer can do these are a great option. Price wise they offer a wider selection than the Canon iP line.

Portable printer scanners are not quite there yet. If you need a simple scanner to save receipts or other small bits of information there are a variety of products out there that can meet your needs. At some point computer companies will get it right and integrate all of this into a super portable laptop but until then we will be carrying portable laptop printers.

Until then or until paper becomes obsolete which seems more and more likely with the release of e-books and devices like the ipad.
