The perfect paradise

Dive into all of the fun

If you are looking for a romantic getaway or an action packed adventure a Maldives holiday could be exactly what you are after.  Nestled off of the south coast of India these tiny islands are populated with white sandy beaches, tranquil beauty and fabulous diving locations, many of which are accessible directly from the beaches.  The Maldives has a large selection of accommodations for the resort travel and globe trotter alike.  Aside from Lanzarote the Maldives is one of my top destinations

As well as having a wide range of holiday accommodations the Maldives also has many exciting activities to offer.  You can unwind on the beach and pass your days in quiet solitude or engage in action packed adrenaline soaked water sports.  There is truly something for everyone and mystery and excitement waiting around every corner.  Here are some of the must see things while you are there:

The Splendid Maldives Beaches

We come to the islands for the beaches and don’t let anyone tell you any differently.  So, it stands to reason that no trip to the Maldives would be complete without spending some serious time on the beaches.  Some of the most famous and exotic beaches are the Sun Island beach, Royal Island Resorts, Paradise Island, Fuammulak as well as the numerous other secluded beaches off the beaten path.

The Capital Town of Male

No trip to a beach paradise would be complete without seeing the port town and Male is no exception  it is the capital of the Maldives.  It is a fairly small city but that just adds to the density of the interesting things to see there.  Male is the home to many interesting museums and mosques.  The museums house interesting artifacts from this exotic part of the world made famous by explorers and pirates.  The best place in town to buy souvenirs and other exotics is the Singapore Bazaar, it is popular for unique trinkets and local talent.  If all of that is not enough for a full day of exploration you can take a submarine tour of the reef just off the main coast outside of Male.

The Grand Friday Mosque

If you like history and architecture the Grand Friday Mosque will be a treat.  It is over 400 years old and was constructed to accommodate over 5,000 people.  It was certainly a wonder of the world at the time and is still awe inspiring.

Don’t Leave Hungry

The Maldives Fish Market is not only a great place to feast but it is also a must-see attraction.  The crowds never lie, this is a fun and exciting place to spend an afternoon or evening.  And it is nearly impossible to not get a fabulous meal from all of the vendors selling their wares of fresh fish, fruit, vegetables, and other cooked goods.

Paradise in Danger

The Maldives has been famous for its white sandy beaches, history, fabulous diving, and good atmosphere for many years but sadly the highest point on the islands is not more than 6 feet.  This means that it is incredibly susceptible to climate change.  A small rise in sea level or change in sea temperatures could through this delicate ecosystem into chaos.

No longer would you be able to get Scuba certified and dive with guitar fish, sharks, and sea turtles in this one of a kind location.  Or visit the impressive architecture from centuries ago.  The dwindling time that these beautiful islands have left is another reminder of their worth and adds to the allure of the islands.  Embracing the now has never meant more than is a splendid disappearing paradise.

A Maldives holiday may seem exotic and extravagant but it is a one of a kind holiday and a once in a lifetime experience.  “Life is either a Daring adventure or Nothing at all.”  These words spoke by Helen Keller illustrate the importance of visiting some of our disappearing jewels.  Look at a Maldives Holiday for your next globe trot, it could change your life today.
