Body hair seems to have outgrown its usefulness and is now more of an obnoxious embarrassment than anything else. The good part is that people have options when it comes to body hair removal.

Shaving - How Boring

Everyones favorite and one of the most time consuming and expensive methods of hair removal. By the time you are finished you can often already see new hair coming in. This method is the shortest lived and the only method that treats hair above the surface of the skin.

These are liquids or creams that you apply to the skin, which dissolve hair on contact so that you can wash it away. This is a quick method and they say that it does not have any side effects but I tend to be in the camp that prefers not to put corrosive liquid on my skin. People spend a fortune annually to look younger, why would you risk it when there are other more effective methods.

That said, this is a quick inexpensive method. It does not last as long as waxing but it is more effective than shaving.

Many people are allergic to Depilatories and I am not surprised.

Electrolysis - Cringe

Getting this done is similar to getting a tattoo but is the most permanent of the different solutions. It involves inserting a needle into the hair follicle and killing it with an electrical current. Makes me cringe a little too. People will often use local antiseptics when having this done.

You should not have this done unless you are certain the practitioner is a trained professional. You can expect to need more than one treatment and expect to pay upwards of $100 per hour.

I would not suggest this unless you have an area of unwanted hair that is difficult to treat with any other means.

Laser Hair Removal - What a nice thought

This is the big daddy of hair removal that uses the most state of the art technology to do the most damage to hair without inflicting damage to your person. If you can afford it and you want to get rid of it, go for it. The more hair you need removed the more expensive, expect to pay a couple of hundred and not to exceed $1000 per session.

Hair removed by this method sometimes does not come back but most people can expect to have at least some hair come back.

This is an excellent alternative to any of the other methods and when compared actually stacks up on the more economical side. If you factor in the lack of pain it gets even better.Laser hair removal can be used for fine tuning on the face or the ultra hairy that need to have a rug removed.
